On Sunday 24 September 2023, Cynthia Mutinda, a fourth-year student at Moi University was found dead in her room. Her body was discovered in her room this morning at Mockba residential apartment in Stage where she used to live.

Police officers in Kesses Officers were notified of the situation after Cynthia went uncontactable on Saturday, sending her parents and friends into a panic. Yesterday, her family and friends went to her house, where they discovered the door locked from the inside.
Despite seeing her lying on the bed through the window, she remained unresponsive. Her body did not have any injury.
She was taking a bachelor’s degree in education(Mathematics/Geography). The burial is expected to be held in her home in Machakos County.
