I have heard people asking, why should I hire a developer yet we have FREE website builders(Technically known as Content Management Systems) like wix, WordPress, Joomla, Drupal etc?
Well, I’d ask you, why should you buy a car yet there’s a wheelchair that can take you wherever you want? CMS are usually meant for creating and managing static web pages . Such sites literally do nothing (doesn’t perform any significant logical task) .However, if it’s a blog website WordPress is the best technology to use.
Yes CMS sites will perform a few simple tasks when loaded with a couple of plugins. It will be fun until you activate plugins that “collide” with each other and your site crashes. Again when it comes to security, I’d say CMS are the easiest to hack since everything is structured. You can also be easily hacked through those plug-ins you’re installing from random sources. It’s funny and crazy how most of government sites in Kenya are proudly powered by WordPress
